What is "Aromatherapy?"
Aromatherapy is the use of nature's finest quality botanicals, organic (whenever available), wild-crafted, precious and rare essential oils, the scent from the plant. They are harvested at specific times to honor the cycles of growing and when the particular plant gives off the most profound fragrance. These essential oils support wellbeing for living beings such as humans and animals.

The Elements And Directions;
Below is reprinted, in part, with permission from the book Aromatic Alchemy ~ Recipes for Transformation, by Ixchel Susan Leigh.
The Elements
The inhabitants of the Earth Mother have been living with her energies, The Elements, since humans began living here. The Elements are more than just wind, water, and sun or the way in which the weather shapes our Earth Mother. According to original thinking, The Elements were associated with the creative energies of the universe. In recent years, as we moved into living in urban environments, we began to loose our connection with Nature and The Elements. More and more people are recognizing this consciously and feeling the loss. Some people feel a loss, yet are unaware of exactly what that loss is. In any case, there seems to be a universal need to bring back into our lives our re-connection with Nature in some way. People want to feel whole and connected with Nature. They do not want to feel separate from Nature, or apart from Nature. They want to feel Nature as wholly and as a part of them !
Western and Oriental Five Elements
Today, there are basically two schools of approach for the concept of the Elements~the Western and the Oriental. The Western philosophy's Five Elements are: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether... The Oriental philosophy's Five Elements are: Earth, Wood, Water, Fire and Metal, and it is found in Chinese Medicine and Feng Shui.
The Directions
The Directions for many indigenous cultures are considered cosmic intelligences. All ancient and present day cultures recognize four Directions~ east, south, west and north. Many cultures identify seven Directions~east, south, west, north, above, below and center. The Native Americans are one of the many primarily indigenous cultures who hold that these cosmic intelligences are a presence which affects all living creatures, including the environment and the atmosphere of the Earth Mother."
